UzTESPING – Uzbekistan Teachers of English Integrated Networking Group was founded in December 2018 to provide continuous professional development and networking (both locally and internationally) opportunities for ESP teachers in Uzbekistan. ESP teachers can exchange news and information, communicate with local and overseas colleagues as well as run mutual projects and integrate each other’s practices. When established, the following objectives were set to guide UzTESPING’s activities:
– to create regular in-service training opportunities through organising professional development courses, trainings, meetings, webinars, etc. in response to ESP practitioners’ needs in Uzbekistan
– to run local and international projects focusing on the improvement of the quality of ESP teaching in Uzbekistan
– to provide opportunities for learning most recent overseas practices of ESP teaching by inviting overseas specialists to UzTESPING events
– to provide opportunities for ESP teachers to exchange their teaching practices and experiences with colleagues through participation in UzTESPING events
– provide information about various grant and scholarship opportunities for professional development of ESP teachers
– to organise annual international UzTESPING conference for discussing various theoretical and practical aspects of ESP teaching
– to establish networking relationships with various local and overseas organisations dealing with professional development of ESP teachers
– to create networking opportunities for ESP teachers for both local and international communication with colleagues from various contexts
– to support novice teachers and ESP teachers with little experience by organising mentorship schemes and providing guidance as well as teaching resources.
– to help ESP teachers to integrate international teaching practices into their local contexts
– to promote classroom research and research-based improvements in ESP teaching
