This presentation focused on the application of corpus linguistics in English for Specific Purposes (ESP). It highlighted the key principles of corpus linguistics, such as the systematic analysis of real-world language data to uncover patterns and tendencies. The presentation discussed the relevance of corpus linguistics in ESP, including the importance of authenticity, data-driven learning, vocabulary and phraseology, language variation, and needs analysis. It also showcased case studies and examples, such as using corpora to select specialized vocabulary for teaching, utilizing corpus-based materials to enhance creativity in medical learning, and building specialized corpora for specific fields like psychology. The presentation emphasized the benefits of corpus linguistics for language teaching, including an inductive approach, natural language use, and evidence-based decision-making. The speaker introduced some studies and their findings in details. Then the speaker shared the materials for further reading particularly emphasizing on 2 books which she finds the most useful and helpful for those who would like to expand their knowledge in corpus linguistics in ELT like: Corpus Linguistics for ELT.
